Outreach Opportunities

Qualifiers love to have support from the FIRST Community.

  • Individual team members can volunteer to work as an event volunteer. Roles include referee (requires training), timekeeper, field reset and more.
  • Teams are also a great source of excitement when they demo at the Qualifiers. Students love to see “the big kids” and the more advanced robots. You can be an inspiration for students to continue to participate in FIRST.
  • FIRST LEGO League – Eastern Missouri qualifiers are in STL metro and Cape Girardeau.
  • FIRST LEGO League – Central Missouri qualifiers will be in Rolla, Nixa, Columbia and Camdenton.
  • FIRST LEGO League – Kansas City Qualifiers are in the KC metro.
  • All events can be found at FIRST Event Listings – MO
Competition Outline

Overview

We offer a unique model of competition for Missouri and Kansas teams. (We may allow out-state teams to register in our events if there is additional capacity.)

Teams may play in any Qualifier.  Select the date and location that works for your team. Teams advance directly to State Championship.

Teams may play in any Meet. Choose 0, 1 or 2 Meets anywhere in MO/KS.  You are not limited to any specific geography. Teams advance to a Conference Qualifier.

All our teams are given a Conference designation based on their geographic location.  We basically divide the state into 4 sections and name them Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, and Southeast.  This designation only matters when advancing from Meet play to Conference Qualifiers. There is an East and a West Conference Qualifier. QP and RP rankings are used. MOFTCScores will be updated the day after every event. Teams that have advanced from a Qualifier are removed from the Conference Qualifier rankings.

Conference Qualifiers advance to State Championship.

State Championship advances to the SOUTH Super-Regional in Athens, GA. Event runs March 8-10, 2018. Event website.

South Super-Regional advances to the FIRST Championship in Houston, TX. Event runs April 18-21, 2018. Event website.

Out-state Teams

Our number one priority is to serve the FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Missouri and Kansas.

Our teams compete in 1 Qualifier and 2 Meets with a chance to advance to Missouri Championship via Qualifiers or Conference Qualifiers.

We are encouraging all our teams to complete their national registration or advise us of their intent prior to 9/29. Then we will know if we have excess capacity. It won’t be a lot.

Out-state teams interested in competing in MO had the opportunity to complete an interest form by 9/22. Teams will be advised by 9/28 of their status.

Priority would go to teams in areas without Partners or a Competition structure, teams with a one and done structure and then teams looking for additional opportunities.

Keep in mind that MO/KS is now part of the South Super-Regional and will advance to Athens, GA and Houston , TX.

Oklahoma and Arkansas are both open to out-state teams. Check their websites for more info.

Event Registration System

Registration for Qualifiers and Meets will open at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. The link will appear in the red writing above the topics. Click to enter the registration system.

We are grateful to the St. Louis Community College Foundation for processing our payments. This is their event system and it is a shopping cart type application. It is not tied to the FIRST system so we ask that you pay attention to your entries (especially team number).

Qualifiers are booked on a first come, first serve basis. Events are removed once they are sold out. Please have a second and third choice prepared. We do not expect excess capacity.

Meets are paid for in this system and then assigned using the team’s Google form input. Link is provided as part of the process. The link the screenshots is not correct – it was revised. Please use the link provided during the registration process and in your confirmation email.

Learn more about the process by looking at FTC 2017 Registration Screenshots NOTE: link for Meet Preference has been revised.
